Go Ape! Treetop Adventure Course Opens at Stony Creek Metropark

Go Ape!, the nation’s leading treetop adventure company, has opened its first Michigan location at Stony Creek Metropark in Washington, Michigan. The Go Ape! Treetop Adventure course offers a fully immersive forest experience.

For each site, guests ascend a rope ladder to a set of obstacles and end with a zip line back to the forest floor. Each site gets progressively more challenging and the zip lines get longer.
The course is designed to accommodate a wide range of skill levels, offering a balanced mixture of challenge and fun. The expansive course offers a two to three-hour expedition through the forest canopy.
Features include:
  • 5 zip lines for more than 4,000 feet of exhilaration
  • A “Double Tarzan swing” that allows participants to swing from 30 feet high into a cargo net
  • A series of rope ladders and bridges, spider webs and trapezes
  • 40+ obstacles situated 40 feet high, or more, within the forest canopy
Go Ape! supports green spaces and local communities where their courses are based by taking part in cleanups, non-native invasive plant removal, and by donating free and discounted tickets to underserved and special needs groups. Last year, Go Ape donated more than $1.3 million in free and reduced-price tickets to local community groups, charities and guests.
The Huron-Clinton Metroparks Director, George Phifer, is confident that the partnership with Go Ape! will be a huge success.
“We share similar core values with Go Ape! in how we serve the local community,” said Phifer. “Our goal is to connect people to nature in a variety of ways. We’re excited to add something completely unique like Go Ape! that’s both active and fun.”
Construction of the course began last Summer, with a 100% capital investment from Go Ape!  The Huron-Clinton Metroparks will share in the revenue derived from all ticket sales, with no public dollars being spent on building, maintaining or operating the course.
“The Huron-Clinton Metroparks system is a premier recreational resource in Southeast Michigan. We’re excited to become a part of the region’s vibrant outdoor culture,” said Go Ape! Managing Director, Chris Swallow. “We’re looking forward to getting Southeast Michigan residents up into the trees.”
The treetop adventure costs $58.00 for ages 16 and up and $38.00 for kids ages 10 to 15. Reservations are recommended through www.goape.com.
Stony Creek Metropark is located at 3737 Southdale Drive Washington, Michigan.
