Fundraiser for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Regatta

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.  In 1964, Leukemia’s survival rate was 3%. Today, the survival rate is 95%.  This significant increase over the past 54 years is partially due to the amazing fundraising efforts that many of the participants have contributed throughout the years.

LLS has showed that when fundraising for a specific cause it is important to focus on more than just asking for money. In order to increase your chances at a successful fundraising campaign you need to focus on the organization progress and telling local stories about it. By enhancing these elements potential donors will be able to see and understand how meaningful the cause is.

Vincent Van Gogh stated, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.”

The progress of LLS is the result of our awesome participants taking small steps to achieve very ambitious goals that improve the lives of cancer patients through funding treatments and services.

To learn more tips and tricks on how you can help cancer patients get the resources they deserve and the best benefits for your campaign attend our fundraising clinic Thursday, May 3rd at North Star Sail Club at 6:00pm!

Outdoor Hub : Lake St. Clair Offers Prime Summer Bass Fishing
Although mostly known for smallmouths, Lake St. Clair boasts excellent largemouths, too. Ask 10 bass fishermen to rattle off the best bass lakes in Michigan and if nine of them don’t mention Lake St. Clair right off the bat, there’s something wrong with your sample. Lake St. Clair is and always has been one of the best bass lakes—and not only in Michigan, but in the country. In fact, it’s one of the best bass lakes in two countries, as Michigan shares the 430-square mile Great Lakes connecting water with Ontario, Canada.

Lake St. Clair a great North American fishing destination
The Lake St. Clair fishery - which includes fish, people and habitat - is widely regarded as one of the best in North America, and provides significant social and economic benefits. Fish such as yellow perch (the favorite food fish in the Great Lakes) and walleye represent significant protein sources. Economically, the Michigan waters of the Lake St. Clair system generated $36 million in economic activity in 2004 alone. Fishing is, for many, a lot of fun, and as a recreational fishery, it provides many physical and mental benefits to people. Moreover, a healthy fish population equals a more stable ecosystem.
