Boating season kicks off in Southeast Michigan at the Great Lakes Boating Festival located at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club

The 29th annual Great Lakes Boating Festival kicks off the 2017 boating season at Grosse Pointe Yacht Club May 19-21. This public event is free for all who want to experience a boat show and festival in a beautiful marina atmosphere in Southeast Michigan.

With boats from 16- to 80-feet in length on land and in the water, buyers are sure to find what they’re looking for just in time for Memorial Day weekend. The exhibitor space will be full of boats both in land and on water for you to look at and climb aboard! Also on display and for sale will be marine products & services, personal watercraft and water toys.

“The 2017 Boating Festival welcomes members and non-members to enjoy the beautiful and fun on-water experience the festival has to offer,” said Boat Show Manager Jim Morrow. “Non-boaters are encouraged to come discover the joys of the boating lifestyle.”

Attendees will also find fun and entertainment at the festival, featuring Antique Cars, a Dossin Museum Display, an Antique Outboard Motor Association Display, Vintage Boats, Jet Skis & Water Toys, and more. New for this year will be a pair of stadium races with Saturday featuring racing “On the Wall” of the J70 sailboats and on Sunday with the new Melges 14 sailboats featuring local High School teams. Both races will be conducted from Noon to 4 pm each day.

The Great Lakes Boating Festival is located at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, 788 Lake Shore Rd., Grosse Pointe Shores, MI 48236. Hours are Friday: 3 – 7pm, Saturday: 12 – 7pm, and Sunday: 12 – 5pm. For more information visit greatleakesboatingfestival.com.
