City-owned, 18-hole golf course was designed in 1973 by golf course architects W. Bruce Matthews and Jerry Matthews (past present of the American Society of Golf Course Architects). The course opened for play on May 19, 1975. It was designed to appeal to golfers of varying ages and abilities and is the busiest 18-hole municipal course in the state. The St. Clair Shores Country Club rests on approximately 100 acres and the overall playing distance is 6,040 yards. The golf course is part of the City's Parks and Recreation team, led by Parks and Recreation Director Greg Esler. Tim Dorner, CGCS, is the Golf Course Superintendent. Questions or concerns regarding the maintenance of the golf course can be directed to him at (586) 294-6170.
